About Us
The Winner Mindset Project began with a single volunteer session at Wilberforce University — and what the students shared that day.
Our Story
The Winner Mindset Project was created after Executive Director, Arnetta Longmire, participated in a volunteer opportunity at Wilberforce University. Arnetta was asked to provide lessons learned regarding self-care to a group of female students.
After a brief game of how to get to know each other, the ladies shared their trauma. Some lost a parent, caregivers with terminal illness, basic needs not being met, and family members lost by gun violence. When Arnetta asked how the male session went, it was more of the same. Tears were in overflow and abundance, even after the activity was over.
Arnetta felt devastated.

“How can these students focus on their studies? How can these students think straight?” Arnetta Longmire, Executive Director
The mission of Winner Mindset is to improve the mental health of children and young adults by partnering with schools, universities and organizations to provide workshops and classes and improve the infrastructures that impact their mental wellbeing.
History
Arnetta Longmire started Winner Mindset because of shared experiences she felt with the Wilberforce students. Arnetta finished her studies in 2006 from Wilberforce University with a B.S. in Psychology.
She lost her mother at a young age and was familiar with grief and trauma. Arnetta hopes to use these experiences to help others.

Supported by volunteers
